FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The former sheriff of Fresno County, Margaret Mims, has been endorsed by Fresno County Supervisor Buddy Mendes to replace him in the next election.
Mendes announced in a press conference on Wednesday that he will not be running in 2026. He wants to use his retirement to catch up at home.
"I have a life to live," said Mendes during the press conference outside the Fresno County Hall of Records.
Mendes said that he is "fully endorsing" the former sheriff of Fresno County, Margaret Mims, to replace him as supervisor for District 4.
Mendes says Mims' previous 16 years of experience as Fresno County's sheriff will help her with the learning curve on the Board of Supervisors.
