COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A Columbus fast food restaurant has closed, marking the end of its short run on Macon Road.

A typed notice taped to the front door of the now former Guthrie’s, dated Sept. 24, announced the closure and hinted at a future relocation.

“We are sorry but we have decided to close this location and relocate this business. Stay tuned for our new location coming soon,” the notice read in part.

The chicken finger restaurant opened in the summer of 2021, occupying a former Taco Bell. It marked the return of the Auburn-based chain after a long absence from the city.

Another Guthrie’s location on Veterans Parkway, which opened in March 2024, remains open.

Details regarding a timeline and exact location for the new site have not been released.
