FARGO — They’re the things that go bump, croak, slither and skitter in the night.

And you can get up close and personal with some of the most unsettling denizens of the Red River Zoo at “Boo at the Zoo” this month.

It’s also one of the area’s largest trick-or-treating events.

This year’s “Boo at the Zoo” includes a new sensory area, “Blue Boo at the Zoo,” which makes it easier for people to have the zoo experience without triggering their sensory sensitivities.

The event includes animal encounters with some of the zoo’s less-cuddly species, like the hissing cockroaches, and an albino tiger salamander named Sausage — a species you can find in the wild right here in North Dakota.
