PROSECUTORS are set to review the "big" brief of evidence in the case of a man accused of killing a baby boy in Gunnedah.

The 20-year-old man remains behind bars, accused of one count of murdering the four-month-old boy in January this year.

He cannot be identified by a court order to protect the identity of the c hild, but his case returned to Gunnedah Local Court on Tuesday, October 7, where the magistrate was told the case had progressed.

The police prosecutor confirmed the brief of evidence had been served, and now it was in the hands of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to review the brief.

The DPP was granted two months to review the evidence, certify the charges, or confirm the allegations it intends to proceed with the case in the NSW Supreme Court.
