Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — The Great Smoky Mountains National Park will remain open through at least Oct. 19 amid the government shutdown, Sevier County officials announced Wednesday.
An addendum signed Oct. 8 extends funding for park operations for 10 days.

The funding, which amounts to $61,703.18 per day, comes from an agreement announced on Oct. 3 between Sevier County, nearby cities and counties, the State of Tennessee, the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, Friends of the Smokies and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
