Details in the stabbing death of retired Auburn University professor Julie Gard Schnuelle could be revealed next week in a preliminary hearing for her accused killer.

Harold Dabney III, 28, will face Lee County District Judge Jeffrey Gerald Tickal on October 15.

Dabney, who is from Montgomery but moved to Auburn before the killing, is charged with two counts of capital murder.

Schnuelle, 59, was murdered on September 6 while walking her dog in Kiesel Park. Her body was discovered in a wooded area of the park.

Investigators believe that after the murder, the suspect stole Schnuelle’s truck. Dabney was later arrested.
