HUNTSVILLE — Madison County District Attorney Robert Broussard announced on Wednesday his office will not be seeking criminal charges in the case of a Deshler High School student who was severely injured on campus in August.

Fifteen-year-old August Borden was medflighted from the school and hospitalized with brain injuries and broken orbitals, leading to suspicion from many in the community that he was assaulted by a group of fellow students.

Broussard, speaking from the Madison County Courthouse, firmly disagreed with the speculation, instead revealing to the media that Borden’s injuries were found to be the result of a “freak accident.”
