The Blues found a goaltender to fill the hole in the AHL after Colten Ellis was claimed off waivers by the Sabres earlier this week.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Blues signed goaltender Georgii Romanov to a one-year, two-way contract and then waived him. He is expected to report to AHL affiliate Springfield when he clears waivers.

Romanov, 25, spent the last two seasons in the San Jose organization after signing with the Sharks as a free agent in 2023. Last season, he had a .905 save percentage in 21 AHL games, and a .877 save percentage in eight NHL games. The Sharks did not tender him a qualifying offer this summer.
