After weeks of debate over a proposed 20-home subdivision on West Locust Street, the Woodstock Town Council brought the issue to a quiet end Tuesday night — by doing nothing.
When Mayor Jeremy McCleary called for a motion to advance Hopkins Construction Company’s request to rezone 717 West Locust Street from low-density to medium-density residential, no council member spoke. He called again. Still, silence. After a brief pause, McCleary moved on, and with no motion, the proposal died on the floor.
Technically, the rezoning could be revived at a future meeting, but unless a member chooses to reintroduce it, the proposal has reached a dead end.
