The Quinte Museum of Natural History has a new exhibit, and it (features) rocks.

Entitled “Rocks Revealed,” it explores the geology of the local area and beyond.

Hundreds of people on the Oct. 4 Doors Open Quinte West tour got the first look at the exhibit.

Mineral specimens from the region are on display on shelves. They’re alongside information about the Canadian Shield’s long history and geology’s role in shaping not only landscapes, but people’s lives.

There is also a table of interactive and touchable elements for all ages. Those include a large piece of fluorite.

“Geology is the foundation of natural history,” museum executive director Deanna Way said in news release.
