A freeze watch has been issued for most of Connecticut as temperatures are expected to possibly dip below 30 degrees.

The watch has been issued by the National Weather Service from Thursday evening through Friday morning, according to Weather.gov .

The weather service said the parts of Connecticut that are expected to be affected include the Hartford, Tolland and Windham Counties and the northern portions of the Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London Counties. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as possibly 29 degrees are anticipated.

The watch came a day after Connecticut declared a Stage 2 drought in three counties as dry weather persists.

The NWS warns that the frosty conditions could kill crops or other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing
