ASHEVILLE – The city is slated to receive $225 million in federal disaster recovery funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and a city spokesperson said the program will largely continue, though the ongoing federal government shutdown may slow some processes due to reduced staffing.

Asheville is in the midst of finalizing and publishing its policies and procedures related to the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds, allocated to the city in January for Tropical Storm Helene recovery, which will be used to support infrastructure, economic recovery and housing. HUD approved the city’s action plan in May.
