Simon Jordan says Steven Gerrard was 'found out' as a Premier League manager during his ill-fated time at Aston Villa.

The Liverpool legend could replace Russell Martin in the Rangers hotseat, with Sky Sports News reporting he is set for talks about a return to Ibrox at some stage this week.

He will do so having previously led Rangers to a league title in 2021 before leaving for Villa just a few months later.

Gerrard lasted less than a year at Villa Park, won just 13 of his 40 matches and was replaced by Unai Emery who has taken Villa back into Europe.

Gerrard resurfaced at Al-Ettifaq, whom he left in January - but is now being linked with the Rangers vacancy.
