LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Kevin McMahill has announced his intention to run for reelection as Clark County sheriff.

In a release, McMahill, who was elected in 2022, highlighted his successes since being sworn into office. It cited data indicating a nearly 35% drop in homicides since 2021 and a 22.7% decrease in the past year.

“When I became sheriff, I told this community they would be proud of their police department,” McMahill said in the news release. “That promise has been kept. Now it’s time to build on our success, protect our future and set a new standard of safety for Clark County.”

McMahill holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Columbia Southern University, according to the release. He and his wife have five children and three grandchildren.
