Temperatures dipping into the 20s tonight have sparked a Freeze Warning across a big part of Michigan, with other areas covered by a less-dire Frost Advisory.

The Freeze Warning hits the eastern part of the Upper Peninsula and the top half of the Lower Peninsula before tracking right down the center of the state, nearly to the Indiana/Ohio borders.

So if you’ve got sensitive plants you want to survive, you’ll need to cover them tonight.

“Widespread sub-freezing temperatures are expected across interior eastern Upper and northern Lower Michigan,” National Weather Service meteorologists at the Gaylord office said this afternoon. “Be sure to protect sensitive outdoor vegetation as the expected cold will likely damage or kill any unprotected plants.”
