LEVANT — Authorities are asking for the public’s help after a classic car belonging to a Vietnam veteran was stolen and later found torched miles away.

Just before 2 p.m. last Monday, Ron Soucy left his home in Levant to visit a friend in Dexter. When he returned a few hours later, he said his 1970 Buick was gone from the driveway where he had parked it.

Soucy said he checked his kitchen and found his keys exactly where he left them. Before he could call for help, a state trooper knocked on his door.

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, firefighters responded shortly after 6 p.m. to a report of a wildfire on Fush Road in Ripley, where they discovered Soucy’s stolen car burned on the property.
