A Scot has told how she thought a bomb had gone off - when the ceiling on her home fell on top of her. Maureen Easton was left "sobbing hysterically" after the terrifying incident earlier this month. ‌

The 62-year-old was within her home in Edinburgh on Thursday, October 2. The ceiling of the council flat collapsed on vulnerable Maureen, who suffers from fibromyalgia and bulging discs. ‌

She was rescued by the fire service and later rushed to the Royal Infirmary for treatment. Edinburgh Live reports Edinburgh Council bosses apologised for the "very distressing" ordeal. ‌

Maureen's sister , Elisha Stone, had raised concerns over dampness in the home to Edinburgh Live. Footage taken after the disaster shows the living room in a state of utter destruction.
