A Palestinian-owned cafe was vandalized earlier this week in Oakland, police said.

The Oakland Police Department said they are investigating a vandalism incident that happened at the Jerusalem Coffee House located in the 5400 block of Telegraph Avenue between 11 p.m. on Sunday and 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

Police said the victim told officers that a person used an object to vandalize their property before fleeing the area. Officials with the cafe said the window located at the entrance of the cafe was shattered and said the owner, Abdulrahim Harara, suspects the vandalization was an “attempt to intimidate him and his community that openly condemn the genocide of the Palestinian people.”
