MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU) - A string of animal cruelty cases is worrying Michigan City pet owners as they try to keep their animals safe.
A week ago, Michigan City Animal Control reported a series of illegal cat trappings.
On Tuesday, they reported that someone may have poisoned cats in the neighborhood along Gardena and Superior streets.
Michigan City Police Chief Steven Forker says an unusually high number of dead cats in the area led animal control to believe someone possibly poisoned them.
He also tells WNDU 16 News Now they will continue to investigate and determine whether the trappings are related to the suspected poisonings.
The animal lovers who live there are doing what they can to keep stray cats both fed and safe.
