A 21-year-old who was arrested in June outside Portland’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office was sentenced Wednesday to a year of federal probation after pleading guilty to the misdemeanor of failing to obey a lawful order.

Eli Victor McKenzie was arrested June 16 when federal officers advanced on a line of protesters blocking the driveway of the building.

McKenzie was holding an umbrella behind a barrier of makeshift plastic shields that appeared to be covers of storage containers lined up across the driveway.

When officers attempted to move the barrier, McKenzie “held fast, pushing against the advancing officers,” before she fell backwards and tried to crawl away, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul T. Maloney.
