MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- With the National Guard expected to come to Memphis as soon as this week, there are questions about what that will look like.

On Wednesday, Mayor Paul Young and Police Chief C.J. Davis gave an update on what the community can expect when the troops arrive.

Mayor Young and Chief Davis want Memphians to know that the National Guard will not serve as law enforcement. Both leaders say they want to dispel the rumors that are circulating around.

The National Guard could be in the City of Memphis as soon as Thursday.

It follows the arrival of the Memphis Safe Task Force, which has made hundreds of arrests within 10 days.

Amid the speculation and concerns surrounding the National Guard, Mayor Paul Young and Police Chief C.J. Davis provided the community with some clarity.
