MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The City of Bartlett's Tennessee Parks and Recreation Department said there is a toxic algae bloom in the lake at Davies Plantation Park in Bartlett.
The department said toxic algae bloom occurs where there are excess nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus in the water. • Courtesy of City of Bartlett, TN Parks and Recreation Dept. • Courtesy of City of Bartlett, TN Parks and Recreation Dept.
They said those nutrients, combined with excessive sunlight and warm, slow-moving water, can facilitate the growth of toxic algae.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has placed signs around the lake at the park and has collected samples for testing.
The dept. said they will have the algae treated on Thursday, and the TDEC will take another sample of water
