ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Barrow County woman has taken legal action against the Barrow County Commission, alleging they violated Georgia’s Open Meetings Act.
Alecia Behlog claims the commission added and passed a motion about school resource officer funding at their July 8 meeting without letting the public know.
Behlog filed a petition for a Writ of Mandamus to hold commissioners and the county attorney accountable. She said this doesn’t just apply to the issue of funding for schools, but for any item the commission may discuss.
“No matter what they issue, the government doesn’t get to bypass the purview of the public,” she said.
The longtime resident alleges the county refused to acknowledge the mistake, which is why she took legal action.
“This is about the people of
