The City of Kotzebue has issued a mandatory evacuation order due to an incoming storm and potential water surge.

Officials are urging all residents to evacuate immediately to ensure their safety. A designated shelter has been set up at the KMHS Gymnasium.

Transportation assistance is available for elders and people with disabilities. Residents in need of help can contact Kotzebue Police Dispatch at 907-442-3351.

Authorities are also asking residents to check on neighbors, particularly those with mobility challenges. Officials emphasize that this is a life-safety matter, and the sooner people evacuate, the safer they will be.
