JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. — A busy stretch of Jeffersontown’s industrial park came to a sudden stop when part of Plantside Drive gave way, shutting down traffic in both directions.

City officials say heavy rain Tuesday caused a pipe beneath the roadway to collapse, leading to the cave-in. The Jeffersontown Public Works Department called an emergency meeting Wednesday to fast-track construction and reopen the road as quickly as possible.

Six contractors are now in the running to oversee the repair project. They're expected to submit design proposals by Tuesday of next week, after which one will be selected based on cost and how fast they can complete the work.
