NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A sanitation truck crash in the Apple Valley Shopping Center has left several North Little Rock businesses without power since Sunday night, and frustrated business owners say they’ve been left in the dark — both literally and figuratively.

According to business owners, a Waste Management truck struck a power line pole behind the shopping center, which then collapsed and knocked out a transformer. The crash knocked out electricity to at least five businesses, including Five Star Cuts barbershop — a shop that typically sees a surge in customers ahead of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s homecoming week.

Marvin Cawthorn, who operates the Sherwood location of Five Star Cuts, says he didn’t know what happened until he saw photos of the damage.
