JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Three people were taken to UAB Hospital Wednesday after a crash involving an off-duty Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to officials, two people had to be extracted from their cars after the crash in the 2400 block of Center Point Parkway, but suffered just minor injuries.

At this time, the cause of the crash is unknown.

Just two blocks away from the crash, a separate accident occurred that created a hazmat situation.

Authorities say a car hit a fuel tanker that caused 100 gallons of fuel to be spilled. Officials say there were no injuries in the crash and that the spill is being contained.

At this time, parts of Center Point Parkway are blocked off due to the crashes.
