MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The tennis court center in Forsythe Park has received a new name. It is now called the Charlotte Bolton Complex.
Charlotte Bolton was the only woman to letter on the LSU men’s tennis team and was inducted into The Louisiana Tennis Hall of Fame. Along with leaving her legacy at LSU, she also left a local legacy as a tennis coach at Neville High School, where she taught hundreds of kids tennis over a 25 year career.
Charlotte’s son, Padg Bolton, says it’s been incredible to see his mother honored in such an amazing way.
He says, “To have this facility built and then to have it built in her honor. It’s amazing. I mean, she gave so much to the community and we’re so honored that this happened.”
Mayor Friday Ellis was present at the ribbon cutting of the Charlotte Bolto
