MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - A fire, reportedly smaller than a football field, closed a section on U.S. Interstate 70 on Wednesday.

The blaze is on the Mesa-Garfield County line and closed the right lane of I-70 from mile point 67 to 68, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The Grand Valley Fire Protection District reported the fire is south of the interstate traveling toward U.S. Highway 6.

CDOT asks drivers to slow down as crews respond to the fire.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
