AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Palo Duro Dons are riding high on a four-game winning streak as they prepare to face their biggest test yet: the defending district champion Abilene Wylie Bulldogs on Friday night.

Week seven of the high school football season marks a crucial point for teams entering or deepening their district play. For the Dons, coming off a big road victory in Wichita Falls last week, the challenge ahead represents both an opportunity and a measuring stick.

Since losing their season opener to Tascosa, Palo Duro has found new life, rattling off consecutive wins against Caprock, Canyon, Amarillo High and more recently Memorial in their district opener.

The offensive explosion has been remarkable, with the Dons averaging 41.5 points per game during their winning streak.
