LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Bourbon exports dropped in the second quarter to key US trade partners.
A new report shows the drop is part of a decline in exports for all US spirits.
This report comes from DISCUS, the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
It said exports of almost all US distilled spirits declined sharply.
Exports to Canada were down 85%.
The UK was down 29%.
Japan was down 23%.
And the European Union, a massive market for American spirits, was down 12%.
The drop specifically for American whiskey exports, including bourbon, was 13 percent.
“Our industry thrives as a result of zero-for-zero tariffs,” DISCUS President Chris Swonger said. “And with that, we need the president’s help to permanently untangle us from these tariffs. So, the Kentucky bourbon industry
