Timberline Lodge officials say they're increasing prices this coming ski season due to skyrocketing insurance costs caused by Oregon's "broken recreational liability system."

The iconic Mount Hood resort said in a social media post Oct. 8 it would increase the cost of "peak time lift ticket pricing, tier 2 season pass pricing, and summer ski products," although it didn't say by how much.

Timberline officials hinted this might be coming after two bills died in the Oregon Legislature that aimed to restore the power of liability waivers that give some protection to ski areas from lawsuits when skiers are injured.

For nearly a decade, ski areas and a collaition of outdoor recreation business have said that a 2014 Oregon Supreme Court decision, which made liability waivers unenforceable
