SALT LAKE CITY — After a 16-year-old was shot and killed on Tuesday night near Ben Lomond High School, police were still searching for the shooter by Wednesday morning.
The Ogden School District said there was no active threat to students or staff after the shooting on Tuesday night, clarifying that shots were fired near 5th Street and Gramercy Avenue — a few blocks away from the school.
According to the district, the student who had been shot came to the school for help after classes had concluded for the day.
School staff, including a resource officer, tried to save the student before first responders arrived. Hours later, the school’s principal announced that despite their attempts, the student died.
