Homer, N.Y. — The man who was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in Homer has been identified, deputies said.
The victim was Anthony T. Beecham, 53, according to a news release from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 3:22 a.m. Wednesday, police went to Grove Street near Route 281 for a report of a subject possibly in cardiac arrest.
Deputies found Beecham in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began life-saving measures until TLC Ambulance arrived.
Beecham was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident. Deputies said a dark-colored vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed.
