TYLER, Texas — Bright minds from across East Texas filled the University of Texas at Tyler campus Monday for the school’s annual “Top 25% Celebration,” honoring high-achieving students and giving them a glimpse of college life as future Patriots.

More than 1,700 students packed Patriot Plaza for the event, recognized for finishing in the top quarter of their high school class. The day included campus tours, scholarship information, and introductions to student life.

“UT Tyler’s growing. We have over 11,500 students now, with tons of degree plans and options that haven’t always been available in East Texas,” said UT Tyler President Dr. Julie Philley. “We want everyone that’s qualified and wants a college education to see us as a good option.”
