TULALIP, Washington (HawaiiNewsNow) - Day two of the 2025 Native Hawaiian Convention brought insightful discussion and entertainment on Wednesday.
Guests attended a 45-minute preview of the highly anticipated musical ’The Epic Tale of Hi’iaka,’ one of Hawaii’s most vibrant mo’olelo.
Starring Amy Hanaialii-Gilliom as Pele, the full production is set to open in 2026 at Leeward Community College, before a permanent residency in Ko Olina.
Former Hawaii Gov. John Waihe’e spoke at Wednesday’s opening ceremonies.
He reminded the Hawaiian community to stay active in their fight for native rights.
According to Waihe’e, the community often finds innovative solutions when faced with a problem.
