The Boston Bruins started off the NHL season with a 3-1 victory over the Capitals in Washington.

David Pastrnak scored the first goal of the game in the second period. After Washington's Tom Wilson scored in the third, Pastrnak had an assist on the Elias Lindholm goal that put the Bruins back on top.

A third point and second goal for Pastrnak came on the empty net as the third period winded down.
