HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — Domestic violence survivors have new resources in Reno County.

BrightHouse has opened Jean's House in Hutchinson. Unlike emergency shelters, residents can stay at Jean's House for months, allowing them to focus on personal development and financial independence.

"A lot of times people who suffer abuse go back to the abuser because they can't stay on their own financially," said Sue Wray, Executive Director of BrightHouse. "We want to make sure that they don't have to make that horrible choice."

Jean's House is open to both men and women who have been victims of domestic violence. Two people have already moved in.
