FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A single-car crash in Fayetteville on Wednesday night left three people dead and a fourth with life-threatening injuries.

It happened just before 7:25 p.m. in the 2700 block of Rosehill Road. When police officers arrived, they found that the vehicle had run off the road and hit a telephone pole. It came to rest down an embankment by a tree.

The one survivor was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill in critical condition. The other three people died at the scene, Fayetteville Police said.

An ABC11 breaking news crew saw family and friends of the people involved rushing to the scene moments after the crash.

Rosehill Road was closed from Country Club Drive to Walstone Drive.
