BRAINERD — There’s a cliche, “it’s better to be lucky than good.”
The No. 4-seeded Brainerd Warriors created their own luck Wednesday, Oct. 8, in a 2-0 victory against the No. 5-seeded Elk River Elks in the Section 8-3A Quarterfinals.
Both Warrior goals were own goals put in the net by Elk River defenders in the second half.
“The talk all year is when we play these big section teams and have these competitive games, these are the games you have to make your own luck,” Warriors’ head coach Grant Gmeinder said. “When you do the right things and put the pressure on, good things happen and a couple of bounces went our way tonight and I thought they were deserved.”
