Former top law officer of the ACT Gordon Ramsay has been charged with grooming a teenager.

The 61-year-old former attorney-general, who has been chief of the Cultural Facilities Corporation since 2021, appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with encouraging a young person to commit an act of a sexual nature.

His lawyer, Michael Kukulies-Smith, entered a plea of not guilty on Mr Ramsay's behalf.

It's alleged the offence occurred between January 2022 and December 2024.

The boy contacted police in September, and Mr Ramsay was arrested and charged on Wednesday night with one count of grooming a young person.

Police executed search warrants on Mr Ramsay's home and car, and seized electronic devices for digital examination.
