JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas — Family photos show the joy shared between 4-year-old Banx Stone McAmis and his 7-year-old brother, Bowyn Ryne Miller—memories now cherished by loved ones grieving their sudden loss.

Just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a possible drowning along the Brazos River in Hamm Creek Park in Rio Vista, not far from Joshua.

“The initial report indicated that the children were playing near the river before they were reported missing,” said Lt. Keven George with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

After an extensive search, officials recovered both boys from the water.

“The parents were with them, and unfortunately, it’s one of those situations where they looked away for a minute and it didn’t take much,” said L
