MOORESVILLE — Martinsville's 30-goal scorer Charlie Rawlins was having a nice, quiet day in the park as far as Bloomington South's defense was concerned.
Then came a lightning bolt out of the blue, and Panther goalkeeper Parker Nguyen was ready, preserving the No. 7 Panthers' 1-0 win over the Artesians in the semifinals of the Class 3A Mooresville boys soccer sectional on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The Panthers had controlled possession and controlled the midfield all day, but with eight minutes left, a lead pass slipped through on the right flank. It gave Rawlins a chance to make a run and a wide-open teammate tearing toward the far post for a deflection or rebound.
