SHREVEPORT, La. - Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux says he is ready to serve for four more years as the city's mayor.

The mayor officially announced his bid for reelection Wednesday while praising his administrations progress on public safety, infrastructure and community revitalization.

Political analyst Scott Hughes says the mayor has an advantage announcing his campaign early while there are no challengers.

"He is incumbent mayor and you always expect an incumbent to run. I think what he really wants to do is make sure everybody is comfortable and knows he is running while limiting the field if he can. It's also about fundraising. I think he starts out with a decent bankroll as an incumbent. The real excitement is to come. Does he draw a challenger and who would that be?" said Hughes.
