Former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian was out for a walk in Australia on Wednesday when he was shot and killed in what police believe was a targeted attack, according to ESPN .

Mokhtarian died at the scene as medics tried to save him, according to the report. He was 33 years old.

Suman Mokhtarian competed in the UFC in 2018 and 2019, before transitioning to coaching.

He helped develop some of Australia’s top MMA prospects, ESPN reports.

The New South Wales Police Force released a statement following the incident.

"A man has died in a public place shooting in Sydney’s west today. About 6 p.m. today, emergency services were called to Annaluke Street, Riverstone, following reports of a shooting. Officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command attended and found a man suffering guns
