New Delhi: At the India Mobile Congress 2025, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh said, “Seventy per cent of our space technology is dedicated to development and ease of living, not just rocket launches,” noting that the convergence of space technology, digital infrastructure and governance would form the nervous system of Viksit Bharat. The minister emphasised that satellite communication (satcom) will serve as the backbone for India’s digital infrastructure, playing a crucial role in connecting remote, rural regions where terrestrial networks encounter geographical barriers. Over 70 per cent of the new ATMs are being installed in rural areas, with satcom being vital for ensuring financial inclusion and extending digital services.
