OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — In a unanimous vote, the Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) voted to support California Proposition 50 on Tuesday.

Less than a month away from the November Special Election, district leaders discussed the resolution in a recent school board meeting. The board cited cuts in federal funding, cuts to Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs and increased immigration enforcement as to why they “strongly” support Prop 50.

“These recent federal actions have created fear, instability, and barriers to student learning due to fiscal instability and the ongoing threat of immigration enforcement at or near schools,” the board stated in their resolution.
