SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- A shoplifter fled from the Warrensville Center Road Walmart Oct. 2 in a vehicle that was pursued by responding officers.

When officers stopped the vehicle, the man refused to obey commands and drove off.

Officers did not follow again since they had obtained the license plate number and seen the driver. They called the registered owner, a resident of Urban Drive. She said that her son would have been the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

That man, 30, later came to the station and was given citations for theft, obstructing official business and failure to comply.

During the theft, he had pushed an off-duty officer who was trying to stop him as he tried to leave the store with a shopping cart containing 53 stolen items. That officer subsequently dep
