Two of Australia’s top universities are under fire after students alleged they were misled into enrolling in unaccredited courses.
The University of Newcastle and Western Sydney University are facing accusations of offering “misleading” and unaccredited degrees to students, resulting in two separate class action lawsuits.
The lawsuits were filed by graduate students who claim they were deceived about the accreditation status of their programs.
The controversy stems from Newcastle University’s early promotional materials describing its Bachelor of Medical Engineering as “the only medical engineering degree in NSW” and a “new and exciting discipline.”
