FIRST off the block, the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), led by political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor, released Thursday a list of 51 candidates for the coming Bihar Assembly elections.

The list has several professionals, including retired bureaucrats, lawyers, doctors, academics, and social workers, with Kishor earlier promising that the JSP would favour such names.

There are several Scheduled Caste candidates as well as those belonging to Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs) in the list, aligning with the party’s stated aim of “inclusive development”. The list of 51 includes at least six Muslims, and one transgender, Priti Kinnar, who has been fielded from Bhorey (SC) seat in Gopalganj district.
